Kansas LLC Filing Fee: $85 Online, $90 on Paper
Filing Articles of Organization (Form DL) with the Kansas Secretary of State costs $85 online or $90 on paper. Those figures took effect February 27, 2026, when the state cut its fees: a $75 base fee plus a $10 information and services fee, and a $5 technology fee on paper filings only. Online filings are processed within minutes.
Kansas LLCs don't file an annual report. Instead they file an Information Report every two years, $90 online ($110 on paper), due April 15.
Kansas LLC fees at a glance
| Filing | State fee | When |
|---|---|---|
| Articles of Organization (Form DL) | $85 online, $90 paper | Once, to form the LLC |
| Information Report (Form ILC) | $90 online, $110 paper | April 15, every two years |
| Late Information Report | Filing stays open for three months; no separate fee listed | After April 15 |
| Change of resident agent or office (Form ROA) | $30 online, $35 paper | When it changes |
| Reinstatement after forfeiture (Form RL) | $35 plus $85 penalty plus $110 per missed report | If the LLC was forfeited |
| Expedited formation | None published | Online filing takes minutes |
Which years you file depends on when you form: LLCs formed in an even year report in each following even year, and LLCs formed in an odd year report in odd years. If the report is still missing three months after the due date, the business forfeits and can't file other documents until it submits the past-due reports and is reinstated. On paper, reinstatement with one missed report is $230.
Where these figures come from
- Form DL (PDF) prints the $85 and $90 fees and is filed under K.S.A. 17-7673; the state's February 2026 fee notice and May 26 press release explain the reduction.
- The information reports page and Form ILC (PDF) set the biennial schedule and the $90 and $110 fees; K.S.A. 17-76,139 is the statute.
- Form ROA (PDF) covers agent changes, and Form RL (PDF) covers reinstatement.
How to file Kansas Articles of Organization
- Pick a name with "limited liability company," "limited company," "LLC," "L.L.C.," "LC" or "L.C." If a similar name is already in use, you must file a Consent to Use of Similar Business Name (Form CN) with the Articles.
- Name a resident agent with a Kansas registered office (street, rural route or highway; no P.O. box). The agent can be an individual who lives in Kansas, a business registered in Kansas, or the LLC itself.
- File Form DL. Create and file it online through the Secretary of State's register a business page and pay by card, or mail it to the Business Services Division, 915 SW Harrison Street, Topeka, KS 66612. The Articles list only the name, resident agent, registered office and signer; no members or managers.
- Get your certified copy. Online filers can print theirs right away; paper filers get it back by mail.
- Calendar April 15. Your first Information Report comes due on the first April 15 that falls in the same odd or even year pattern as your formation year, and it names each member who owns 5% or more.
