  • The federal EIN (tax ID number). That is a separate service: $99.
  • An operating agreement.
  • BOI / FinCEN beneficial-ownership reporting.
  • Legal or tax advice. We are a filing service, not a law firm.

What Kansas requires after formation

Reports come every other year; agent coverage never lapses. Kansas requires a registered agent, its statutes say resident agent, at a physical Kansas street address, reachable during business hours for the life of the LLC. Lose your agent and the state has grounds to move against the company regardless of where you are in the report cycle. Our service covers the role for a $99 annual price and includes deadline reminders keyed to your parity year.

Where the rules come from

Common questions

Does Kansas require an annual report for LLCs?

Yes, but only every two years. The fee is $50 per biennial filing. Missing the deadline can result in penalties and eventual administrative dissolution.

Do I get a registered agent with my LLC?

Yes. Your first year of Kansas registered agent service is included with the formation. After 12 months it renews automatically at $99/year unless you turn off auto-renewal or cancel in your online account.

Do I need an operating agreement for my Kansas LLC?

Kansas doesn't require you to file an operating agreement with the state, but you absolutely should have one. Banks require it to open a business account. Courts rely on it in disputes. Without one, Kansas's default LLC rules apply — which may not match your intentions. An Kansas-specific operating agreement template is available from us as a standalone add-on.

Do I need a resident agent for my Kansas LLC?

Yes. Every LLC registered with the Kansas Secretary of State is required to maintain a resident agent with a physical Kansas address. This is true from the moment you file your formation documents and remains true for as long as the LLC exists. Our service: first year included with your LLC, then $99/year.

How do I get an EIN for my Kansas LLC?

Apply directly on IRS.gov — it's free and takes about 10 minutes. You'll receive your EIN immediately after completing the online application. Never pay a third party for an EIN. We provide EIN application assistance as an optional, separately-priced service. The IRS doesn't charge for an EIN — apply at IRS.gov yourself if you prefer.

Registered agent service renews automatically for another year on each renewal date, unless you turn off auto-renewal or cancel in your online account, or give written notice at least 30 days before the renewal date. Renewal reminders go out about 60 days ahead.

You can cancel at any time from your online account or by contacting support. Cancelling does not by itself remove us as registered agent on the state record; a change of registered agent or resignation filing does that.

Anything already filed with the government is not refundable. Registered agent fees are not refundable once we or our partner have been appointed with the state. State fees are not refundable once paid to the state.
